Hi There
try to keep a long story short!! I sold my 1994 280SL many years ago to a friend and they have had great use from it for the last 8 years however returning from holiday last month, the battery was flat and he put a charger/booster on the battery still connected and turns out all the electrics/parts are blown/cooked not sure which or how, turns out the local dealer is quoting thousands and he now wants to get rid of the car, i would buy back as it has only covered 38,000ml's can any body advise? what would be the extent of the damage???

Hi Malcom

engine was turning over but would not start, half the lights were working but some guy that was recommended to him started to pull at the dash/console and wiring, now nothing working, something about a comfort circuit? and he thinks he had his charger on 24volt...when it blew.. replaced all the fuses but they all popped again

There are 2 series of these cars, the 063 and the 064, from1996 most of the electric are the same, and quite a few being broken, they share a lot with the 140 in the way of electrics.
The most expensive is the roof pump, but these can be repaired, I would allow say £1500 to be on the safe side, and you could get away with a lot less, its an unknown concept.
