Bluetooth - addresses??

I've just bought the MB bluetooth accessory for my ML and installed it. My mobile - a Motorola A780 works fine except it does not transfer all the phone stored names and phone numbers to the car. The numbers are stored on the phone - not on the phone Sim card. Any ideas why this data doesn't transfer?

Thanks

Hi,

Which MY ML do you have and which bluetooth unit?

Is the the SAP v2 or the basic HFP version. You should also check that your phone is fully compatible. Some phones will only allow the transfer of basic data. You should also try with the contacts stored on the SIM rather than the phone.

Hi Sanny

I've got a new ML320CDI. It's the basic Merc Bluetooth attachment I've installed. I've loaded all contacts onto the Sim card but still no transfer of the data. I may have to change phones. Does anyone know if the Nokia 6110 Navigator works with the SAP? I read on some blogs that this phone doesn't work in BMW's

Bluetooth Phones

Just because the Nokia 6110 Navigator isn't on the list does not mean it does not work. It just means Mercedes haven't tested it. It seems to me that Mercedes have a real problem with Bluetooth and their Command system and have created this half hearted attempt to provide bluetooth because their customers demanded it. Rather than re-write Command, we have been given a system that will require every new phone to be individually tested to know whether it will work (according to Mercedes Technical Support who I was just talking to). Now, as new phones come out daily this isn't going to happen, so the new phones I was interested in such as the Sony W760i, the Samsung i780, the MWg AtomV, the Eten Glofish according to Merc Tech don't work, but when pushed they tell you they haven't been tested so they don't know.

Hi,

If you have the basic MB bluetooth kit then it doesn't use SAP and it is likely to be a phone which is the problem. I have the same car and have just swapped the basic MB bluetooth unit for the SAP v2.

In my opinion the SAP version is worth the extra money although you are pretty limited to Nokia phones (and a few Siemens). Almost all Nokia phones have SAP although MB only test a few of them against the Bluetooth Kit.

On my old basic bluetooth, I found that a Motorola V3 worked (although most websites/experts say it doesn't) but other phones may not work as well. The SAP v2 version gives a much stronger signal as it uses the car aerial rather than the phones internal aerial, the call waiting function works and battery life is longer (phone effectively hibernates when logged in) just ot name a few advantages.

Finally, if you are thinking about the cost, negotiate with your dealer. I got £75 off the cost of the kit by telling them it was cheaper at other dealers.
