I have a W208 2001 with built in MB phone kit. As many are finding, upgrading can be a problem, via MB i believe you need to go UHI plus bluetooth add on (very £££'s) or stick with 6310i as the latest. BUT
I have now found a "gadget" from USA which fits in the boot, replacing the MB unit, you remove all the kit in the armrest, and then ANY bluetooth phone (which has SAP support) will work with ALL the comand functions! EG steering wheel, phone book, etc. Have heard SMS does NOT work though.
So Question: Anyone else heard of this (USA kit I think), does it work, and what cost? ( I have been quoted £500 for the "gadget" and £100 for fitting.)
PS this is NOT an MB kit or part.

The gadget works... so if you want to have ANY mobile to work through comand without having to upgrade eachtime its the answer. Works a bit like the parrot blue tooth system, but you get all the mb functions (steering wheel etc)
