Does anyone know if there will be bluetooth enabled cars in the UK and if so which series? Very curious to know as i have seen them in the US.

Is that just for the phone or for the cars to communicate directly with the dealerships and if you have not spend any money there lately they put a fault code on your car to get you in there?

Is that a 'virtual' echo?

Mercs are now Bluetooth enabled, if you stump up for the handsfree pre-wire kit and then install the new bluetooth cradle adapter.
Alternatively for £70 you can pop a Nokia kit under the dash and any car is bluetooth enabled.

i think mine is, but from my understanding, if you have a bluetooth enabled phone, it will allow you to talk thru the headest instead of the cars speakers so the passenger can listen to the stereo again, or half of the conversation.

to be blunt, i cant stand them headsets. i really cant stand people using them walking about round town and still talking loud enough to not even need the phone.

Maplin electronics sell a car CD/radio/MP3 player with external microphone for £79.99 that is Bluetooth enabled so it will pair with your phone and turn the car stereo sytem into a hands free system.

here's the link to the product on the Maplin website.

Don't know anyone who's tried it out so it would be good to know how you get on if you buy one.

Wow..... a whole new technology has just been revealed. My next van won't have a separate handsfree kit and radio/MP3.

I have just been looking at the Pioneer bluetooth car radios and for just short of £200 you get a topline mp3 player that will also control my Pioneer 12 disc CD changer and also doubles up as a handsfree bluetooth phone kit. For an extra £50 you can get an ipod adaptor.

This is the best of all worlds and makes it so much simpler to fit than messing about with a seperate handsfree kit. When you consider the cost of a handsfree kit and the fitting hassle it makes the radio look positively cheap.

Take a look at this link to the company I bought my last MP3 radio/cd changer set-up from.
