I don't want to harp on about other brands, but I've been an avid supporter of BMW for many years. I've had two M3's, 330Ci coupes along with a string of other BMWs which were new at first reg over the last 12 years or so.
The downward spiral for BMW started IMO at the introduction of the latest 7 series, then the hideous 5 series followed by the disgusting shape of the latest 3 series. I had an E46 M3 until March 2007 when I changed to A 911 Carrera C2S and a daily Merc 320 CLS CDI. The build quality of the Merc in comparison to the BMW is superior in all respects. No squeaks, knocks , rattles etc & never had any warranty work done in 9 months. Maybe I've just been lucky. ? . All the BMWs I've had have had to go back to the dealer for various work. Also took the latest M3 for a spin last week, faor enough it went well............ but I couldn't tell the difference between that and a regular 330 Coujpe when stood side by side . I'm a definite Merc convert
