I have a small (jam jar lid size) patch of corrosion on the passenger side wing just infront of the wheel arch. The corrosion is near the oil (?) cooler. Its going to be repaired and I am deciding options either to have it patched or replace the wing.

I have noticed on later models 'vented' wings. Is this corrosion a common problem linked to the cooler and is the vented wing a solution. If so will the vented wing fit the earlier model, does anyone know?

Thanks

The corrosion is caused by the wheel arch liner rubbing throught he paint on the inside of the wing. The rust is from the inside-out.
Not sure about the vented wing but I thinkit will fit. Wasn't it only fitted to the 300 diesel?

Peter, you have the same spec car as me. Mine now has 246,000 miles on it. It needs a new oil cooler and rad, plus the a/c condensor has been leaking...... All this in the 3 weeks since I got the car!

Did you replace the wing then? I'd be interested to know if you had to move or remove the cooler.

Best,

Jim

the 'vented' wing is for the E300 diesel. The vents are for the air cleaner intake.
