For quite a while I've had the thump thump of a "body in the boot."
I looked very carefully at all my rear suspension components, yes I did use a pry bar, but could not identify the problem.
Research showed.....
" It's definitely the shocks".
"Don't change the shocks, it's definitely the anti roll bar bushes"
Etc. etc..
As she is 16 years old I thought that the whole suspension is probably tired anyway, so I'd just work my way through all the components until I found the problem.
First I changed the anti roll bar bushes cause it was the cheapest, easiest fix. No joy.
MOT advisory suggested possible wear in drop link bushes or their bolt. Changed those. Body still there, though possibly rolled a bit towards the nearside of the boot.
Got a really good deal on some rear shocks in an online sale.
Hurrah! body gone, though he might have left his boots behind, the roads here are so poor that there are always bumps coming from the suspension.
If you have the same problem, don't think "It must be the shocks then". Someone on her complained vigorously when an indy changed their shocks and it turned out to be the arb bushes.
It could be anything, or a combination of things. How much you have to change is probably down to luck.
