Bonet open sensor S320 CDI

Hi all,
I have a fault which pops up saying bonnet open..... Will this make the car run in safe mode?
The sensor has been connected & I have even tied the two wires on the bonnet sensor together to make the loop!

In Addition,

I have replaced my MAF (£53) but to no avail!!!!!!
