Bonnet Insulation

Hi
Could anyone recommend a heat-proof adhesive for fixing a new foam insulation pad (full-size) under the bonnet of a 190E?

On a previous thread 'hornbrod' suggested # M Contact Cement, but this drew a blank look from my local indie motor accessory shop!
Any tips on fitting would also be grateful.
Cheers

Hi there

I replaced the same stuff (which MB charged me £50 for) on my 500SL a few years ago. Went into an art shop and asked for 'spray-on contact adhasive'. It is made by 3M - probably a few types, but worked OK. Use loads of it, but keep some spare too!

Hi guys

Thanks for all the leads. Am thumbing through the Screwfix catalogue's pages
of adhesives and am spoilt for choice!

I have used old fahioned Evostick in the past. Great sticking power, but it is contact adestive, so you only get one shot at getting it right. Position the insulation, and touch it at the bottom, and then work up. This way the glue holds the weight of the cloth and you can focus positioning, with no air bubbles.
