 Hello everybody!I am gradually going through my latest acquisition
a 1992 500 SEL and sorting any problems out.The question for today is;Why is the passenger side of the bonnet slightly raised when it is closed? It appears that the catch under the bonnet isn't holding it down properly.Do these catches wear out,or can you adjust them?

Not sure on your car but many have a screw in rubber plug that the bonnet sits on, one each side, they screw in or out.

My car does have the two screw in rubber plugs as you say but thats not the problem. It appears to be the catch itself not holding that side of the bonnet down.It seems to be the front corner only. Now i am looking for it i did see another W126 with the bonnet up slightly on the other side?
The missus wants to go out today in the W126 so i will have to shelve my bonnet investigations for another day.

I have just spent two hours polishing it etc so I hope it doesn't rain.

Weird thing???????????I looked at my bonnet yesterday and I noticed that the gap is getting smaller?????...........I am starting to think that the catch has partially seized up due to lack of use??? I think that you could be right davebox!!!...........Watch this space for further news!
