Bonnet paint problem

Looking at buying a 560SEC and bodywork is generally v good apart from a small circular area, about 2 inches across, surrounding both windscreen washer jets. Here the paintwork is bubbling slightly. I am told that it can't be rust as the bonnet is not steel (?!). In which case what is it and how do you fix it? Comments and advice much appreciated.

i would suggest that the clear lacqeur is starting to come off the paintwork.

i am prepared to be wrong but i would think the bonnet is steel.

not sure how many aloo-me-numb (yank spellin) bonnets merc would have made. and they dont do them at present. or are they suggesting its plastic?

needs a good dose of looking at to find the probelm.



For our friends over the pond. The word Yank is not meant to cause any offence and it is spelled aluminium over here in England. and thats how we pronounce it as well. So dont pop round with your big bombs and stuff thinking we all hate you. we dont.
