Good afternoon
I have a 2012 C class 220 cdi and I wish to fit the upright bonnet star, I have a star with the part number A 221 880 00 86 but it doesn't fit, it just rattles in the hole.
The flush mounted badge I took off had a spring mounted clip, the upright star just appears to be a push fit and it does sit into the recess but is loose.
Have I missed something?

Regards
Dermot.

Sorry, I have been an idiot and worked out the fitting twists and locks in place. All is good now, the part number above is the correct item if anybody wants to do the same.
Being a man of a certain age and having owned a W115 230/4 in the past I do like to see the emblem at the end of the bonnet.

I have a removable one that i fitted last year .Reason was the car cover i used would stick up where the star was .So i took it out .But after doing this every time i used the cover the part you turn to lock in the original star was distorted. So i went for the anti theft type . And after driving the car with out the star i dont know which i like the best ,,with ot without it .But nice to have that option .

I’m not surprised it doesn’t fit. It’s for an S Class of somewhat different proportions and bonnet ratio to your car!

A221 as the part number prefix identifies it as a part released for the 221 platform (previous S Class model).

edit. You have the correct Star part number- who’d a thunk a 221 part be released for a 204?- but the wrong bonnet for it. There are two bonnet part numbers released, one for gunsight star and the other for laurel wreath....

Well I have checked it again and it seems solid and tight so I will see how I go on with it.
Thanks for the info.
I wonder how many more parts are interchangeable throught the range?

As in, across different platforms? Quite a lot. Probably 15-20% commonality.

LOTS. Dont be mistaken by assuming the first three numbers of the part no are platform specific

No, specifically they denote the platform that design was released for initially.

I quite like it with the slatted grill and star.
I prefer the traditional look.
The car itself is superb and does exactly what I want everytime.
