My boot lid won't open !

The car has just come back from having some rust warranty work completed and they must have taken the boot lid off to repair it - which makes me think maybe a connection is not right !?!?

The boot was opened by my father yesterday to put the baby seat in it before bringing the car over to me today but today we can't open the boot !

The key on the fob only appears to work the drivers door and glove box, not the boot !

I have tried the cockpit unlock switch and nothing happens, tried the fob press and nothing happens, I have looked at the fuses under the bonnet and they are OK but they say that corresponding fuses are located in the boot - but obviously I can't get to them to check.

I am stumped !

Any suggestions please ???

UPDATE - After reading other posts, as it seemed odd that the key would not fit, I did as other posts said and applied some WD40 and wiggled the key in and out for about 10 minutes and then hey presto the key finally went all the way in and turned and opened the boot lid !

But..... neither the cockpit open nor the key fob button will open the boot, I have now checked all the fuses relating to the central locking and they all seem OK.

Also.... the boot lid button will not open the boot unless the key is inserted, where it used to open the boot as long as both the doors had been unlocked by the key fob - if that makes sense.

Boot lid issue resolved, the MB warranty body shop guy came round to my office and re-connected the elelctric boot lid release connector which must have not been fully pushed together which is located under the trim of the boot lid.

Result.

Cheers Malcolm - to be perfectly honest, I did wonder why you had not given any input at all on this, as in the past you have always been very helpful.

All the best anyhow.
