Boot Lid Problem

Dear All,

I have a CLK 230K (Coupe - 1999). The problem is that the boot lid is not opening either with the electronic key fob, switch in the car or the mechanical key.
Does anyone have any suggestions ?

What are the first 6 VIN numbers.

Mine is intermittent, When I push the button, sometimes it just swings open as it should, other times it just pops up about an inch (and the boot, hahaha) and has to be lifted manually. Are the springs on the way out?
