Hi, I have bought new boot lock for C180 W203 and the new lock has a four pin plug. Old lock had three pin plug with three wires. I wired the 3 wires as they were in the old pin (pin 1,2 3 to pin 1,2,3,4-empty). There is no forth wire to go in the forth pin in the new plug :confused: . Tried but boot release button doesn't work with this configuration. Can anyone please help? Thanks

The sensible thing to do, if the circumstances permit, is to bring the lock back and exchange for the correct lock, there will be a part number on the original lock.
If returning the lock isn’t possible then someone on hear may be able to help.

It is a modified part. Contact the parts dept where you bought it and they will tell you waht to do. The loom has to be modified from memory.

Hi television, the lock motor was fine. The gear inside the lock had broken so the motor was just spinning. The dealership said that the old lock was superseded by a new 4 pin wire plug lock. They sent me the new lock with a new 4 pin plug. My problem now is that there was no document explaining how to wire this 4 pin plug. Old lock only has 3 wires for 3 pin plug. I did an extensive search on internet but didn't find anything.

SOLUTION: :D

3 Pin Plug --> 4 Pin Plug
==================
XXXXXXX --> Pin1 (Empty)
Pin 1 wire --> Pin 2
Pin 2 wire --> Pin 3
Pin 3 wire --> Pin 4
