boot not opening w211 e55 amg 2003

hello everybody ive got a real teaser for you here,my boot would not open,remotely or with the handle,i was about to look into it when the right hand licence lamp not working came up on dash,i got a new bulb (festoon type)it still did not work,there is no live at the connecter the other side is earthed ok,the other number plate works ok.to cut a long story short if i leave the bulb out the boot will open with no problem,as soon as i put the bulb in, it stops opening.ive also noticed the boot lighting does not work,ive checked fuses all seem ok but i dont have the card which tells you which fuse is which,it would seem to me to be shorting out somewhere has anyone come across this before,thanks craig

Sounds like the rear SAM is playing about, they do some weird things at times. or a simple wiring fault, moneys on rear SAM.

Ive seen wiring problems on the boot,check around the hinges for damaged wires.

is the sam unit the fuse box

No, its behind the front drivers seat, in the compartment, theres a false floor, remove that to gain access to the rear SAM, you wont do nothing with it, a star test is your next call, otherwise your start throwing money away!!

Do you know a good indie with STAR

im close to main dealer,i suppose they would go straight to it with all their equipment ,i know of indie with a bosch system but not star

Most Bosch diagnostic gear covers STAR, its so much cheaper than going to MB

NO, i was wrong!!!!! there's a thread going about a 230 somewhere on here tonight and i got the model wrong, the rear SAM in a 211 is in the n/s boot trim,

About £300 for the unit, thats a sam/unit. needs to be coded as well!!

i stripped out the left hand boot trim and found 5 broken wires in the loom which goes into the boot.ive repaired them and all works well.thanks for the advice,
