Boot release - S430

Hi. I am fairly new to this wonderful forum, have contributed (positively I hope) to one thread and now find myself in need of a little advice please.

I have a 1999 S430 (which I love) that has a strange problem. The only way I can open the boot is from my key fob. The internal boot release does not seem to work (but when the boot is open its little red light is on) and I cannot open it with the external boot release. Is there some programming (like elec windows) that can be done or is this a trip to MB to sort?

If anyone has even a small clue how to solve - I would be really grateful - getting to be a pain when dropping kids off as I have to stop the car, remove the keys and use the button on the fob to open the boot!

If its like the 129 the lock can be turned with the key to disable this feature by turning full in one direction or the other

Sadly it hasn't worked - will try local indie sometime soon. Will post when I know resolution.
