Hello folks. A seal around the boot of my E320 is breaking down (picture attached). I asked for this to be replaced when I got my MOT a few days ago. This was all arranged by phone - I asked them to replace the cracked seal. The car was collected - I didn't have time to take it myself. When I got the car back, I opened the boot, and it hadn't been replaced. I called them, and apparently they replaced the thick rubber squashy seal 'because that was the one we ordered, sir'. Oh great. I said I was worried about water getting in and was told 'water won't get in there - it's really cosmetic'. Well, I'm no expert, but that sounds wrong to me... any guidance here? Does it need replacing (yes, I'll have it replaced, but how long can this be put off for?). I'm a bit annoyed about this because they did the nearside one when I had it serviced in January. And didn't they notice the cracked and breaking down seal when they replaced the large boot seal? Which has a couple of kinks in it, by the way, that weren't there on the original one...
