having just purchased a c180 on a 97 r plate, i notice some bubbling of paint around the lock of the boot. is this common and what might have caused it please? where might there be water getting in to cause this to happen? thanks.

This seems rather common especially around the boot lock area.

Use the search facility and you will see plenty of others with similar issues.

The cause.... waterbased paints and inadequate coverage/ poor application.
