Folks - don't know if anyone can help with this - I've got a W210 saloon, registered 1-1-99 and I'm thinking about upgrading the audio kit. Does anyone have a Bose soundkit, and is it worth the money and hassle?
I have just got a 1998 w210.. and it was fitted with one of those awful sony head units, which I dont personally like so much, this has just been replaced with a nice Alpine unit, much better, but now i can hear the limitations in the speakers... those tweeters in the front are not very good for me.. and i get a fair amount of trim noise at louder volumes...
Assuming you have a normal Sony head unit in the dash, i would replace that.. But with regards to speakers, you would be better off acquiring some standard drop in replacements i.e. pioneer or kenwood etc, most in car hifi shops could find out which ones will fit.. I had a look and 17cm in front / rear doors & rear shelf. its going to cost a few hundred pounds for the speakers.. If you do it properly then replace the existing cable and add some sound proofing mats, long term this is what i will do..
