Hi Chris, Never heard of that before, hope you didn’t try to dry it out like I said.

There is a very thick wiring loom entering the boot, right hand corner about the diameter of a fat cigar, part of this loom goes to the battery and the rest goes to the comfort control unit, if you can find and follow this loom it should lead you to the unit you are looking for.

A previous owner may have moved the comfort control unit to a dryer location, maybe inside driver side wing or maybe as bigasotonuk said in your previous post it is tied into the pump and is different from mine.

Can you copy the link you saw that the shows central locking pump and put it up here.

Hi Chris, Mercedes are forever changing things like electronic components even though we have the same car, things may be different and have changed in later models like yours.
Even when you find this unit, all you can hope to do is perhaps find a loose connection, other than that its unlikely to be repairable and may need to be replaced and that may involve having it coded to your car by the dealer.

You may have to have the codes read on the dealer diagnostic machine to determine exactly what is at fault.

I presume you have already checked all fuses in boot and bonnet.

If you put up your VIN number here I can have a look see what I can find.

Chris, it should be in between the battery and the blue beam in photo, Green arrow.
The Red and Pink wiring loom goes to the battery, comfort control unit and back up to the pump as in your second picture.

Number 5 is the Comfort Control
Number 29 is the Comfort Control Relay

According to your VIN number.

comfort control

hi dec, i have looked again around the battery area there is no control unit.only fuse box and small relay. only other wires go to the locking pump. 1 straight connector with 6 wires on it. the other 2 are multi micro pinsconnectors that have a lever removal mechanisum on them.chris.

Hi,
Just a thought have you looked under the plastic panel behind the rear seats as i have a couple of relays there, electric seat power relay for one. Though i never identified them as the comfort relay, it might be worth a look.
I put your chassis number into official epc and the link below is to the Russian web site but it is the same page as the official one.
http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.as...332F794887&CT=F&cat=44V&SID=82&SGR=590&SGN=32
It looks like the comfort control has an associated switching relay, which looks like it could be under the plastic panel behind the rear seats.

That’s odd Chris, according to your VIN and as shown in the link in my last post you do appear to have one in the boot, I’m just wondering, did you actually move the battery, because it is almost impossible to see it with the battery in place, particularly if it is a long battery.

If you disconnect the battery make sure you don’t close the boot while it is disconnected and keep your ignition keys in your pocket as the car can lock its self when the battery is reconnected.

The thing is large enough to be seen if it was anywhere else in the boot and anyway it needs to be in close proximity to the vacuum pump because it is wired to it. I checked my own VIN out of curiosity and the details that come up for mine are the same as yours.

This is my details and appear to be identical to yours.

“hi i tried a door module and it made no difference.talked to merc man yesterday , he said rear electric window motors get water ingress and cause high resistance in the can wiring. he suggests disconnecting both of them then resetting front windows to see if problem persists am about to do this myself if it ever stops raining. Chris”

Chris, above is a quote from a previous post of yours, did you try that? Because it is sound advice and worth a try.

If the present situation continues then it would now seem that the rear motor/s maybe the cause of the fault. If all is still well in a few days you could consider reconnecting the rear diver side motor only, to see if the fault returns, if it doesn’t, then that will just leave the passenger side as the culprit. Seems that Merc man may have been right.
