Brake pad thickness detection

Hi All

Does any member know if the W202 has brake pad thickness warning circuitry fitted to both front and rear wheels so that when the pad thickness wears to 1/16 inch (say) the brake warning indicator lights?

I have been informed that it's usual to have warning indication on the front wheels but not on the back ones on account that they wear very much more slowly and the wear would be picked up during a normal service.

they are not fitted to the rear Phil,on some wheels you can look through the holes and see the pads.

Phil,
It may depend on the year and model but my 1995 w202 only has sensors on the front brakes.

Your replies are in agreement with my indie's wife who is incredibly knowledgible about MBs. She seemed to think there were no pad thickness sensors on the read wheels. However, looking at my Haynes manual concerning the C-class, the is mention of sensors on the rear. The only way I'll be certain is to take a look. I wonder if wear sensors were fitted to later W202 models?

Yes, you can see the pads through the slots in the wheels. I'll ask my indie to replace them when he examines the discs. Thanks.
