I have recently put new brake pads on the left-front side of my 450SEL, but the brake pad indicator light still stays on. Any suggestions???

Did you replace the sensors as well as the pads?? Because you should always do this when replacing brake pads. Also you should never replace pads on one side only, it causes asymmetrical braking!!!

I think you mean the brake pad indicator warning light don't you.  Not the brake light.  It shocks me to hear that you have replaced one sides pads as the indicator lights works on both sides of the car.  I think you should be very careful about messing about with brakes unless you have adequate knowledge.
