brake pipes

my son has a 2001 c220 cdi we put it in for an mot and got an advisory on the offside rear brake pipe it looks like the fuel tank has to come down as the pipes go over the top of it to a join would this be correct as it looks like a lot of work for this to be done there is no room to make a join before this as pipes run along the subframe any other way this could be done thanks in advance

We chop them before the tank, join there and feed up behind. No need to drop tank, but still a lot of work!
