Hi ,
new member to the Club and new Merc owner.
I have a 94 c220d which I took over from my Father (who's just gotten a c220 cdi !).
I have had the car about 3 months and just got the car back from a B service (which caused severe pain to my wallet) at the Merc dealer who has looked after the car since new. I have now noticed that in drive when I am in traffic and stop-starting on the brake that there is a regular tick, tick which I can feel through the brake pedal. Any ideas before I take it back to the dealer ?
Also I could swear that under the bonnet on the right hand side there was a plastic cover over the brake master cylinder, when I got the car back it wasn't there ..... am I correct that there should be one ?

Thanks
Marky :)

checked my C220 too and no cover over the master cylinder.

Re the ticking through the brake pedal - dont whether its related to the ABS - first time ABS kicked in with me I wasn't expecting 'feedback' through the brake pedal - could be worth checking . . .

I too sometimes feel a similar sensation through the pedal. Also I can hear the rhythmic clickign. It doesn't seem to be associated with the engine speed either, going from memory.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Arnie cracked it I think........I turned the fan off and the clicking stopped, I turned the heat full up when the engine was hot and the clicking stopped, I turned the heat fully off to cold and the clicking stopped...........I only get the clicking when I am in the white sector of the heater control wheels !

I guess this is because the thermostat is in its mid way position and is clicking in and out as it tries to control the temperature.

Thanks for the suggestion Arnie (seems like a stroke of genius !), now need to figure out what needs to be fixed (if it does ?).
