Folks I have to replace the rear two disks (starting to inner rust) and pads on my 2001 SLK 230 and rather than reinvent the wheel would ask the members in their opinions where the best and cheapest place is to source them, any good web link to sites or phone numbers would be most welcome, many thanks in advance for your help.

MB prices for disc are very good, though you can buy OE pads from any car parts supplies like we have that supply the trade like Mintex or Textar.

Rust on rear disc can often be removed by a few hard stops, with only 28% pressure on them its common to rust

Hi,
I replaced mine with discs from Euro car parts been on there 2+ years and approx. 60,000 miles (motorway work) no problems at all.
Very cheap too £15-20, my rear discs are non-vented so if yours are vented they will be more but my front discs were vented they were only £25-30.
Try their web site,
http://www.eurocarparts.com
Just checked and they offer 2 makes of rear disc for your car from £10!

Be careful fitting non Mercedes-Benz brake parts.

Especially brake pads, had a set from a well known place up near Wembley and they seperated. The friction material came off the backing and damaged the caliper and disc.

Least to say that they ignored my requests for remuneration.

Similar thing but not as bad happened to my fathers E Class a few years ago and the Mercedes-Benz dealer who fitted them repaired the whole lot FOC.

Simple lesson, cheap is not always best. I was £1500 out of pocket.

As long as the pads are made by TMD then they are OE to MB
