"Brake Wear" warning message comes up on the dash display when I start the car [2007 A Class] ... so I guess the brakes need looking at and renewing.

Firstly, how does one know if it's front back or both: would the mechanic's diagnostics scanner thingy give more info?

And secondly, the warning first appeared yesterday then again today ... does this need looking into ASAP or s it OK to use the car for a few more short journeys leaving it till she goes in for her annual service & MOT?

Thanks :D

Advise checking this out A.S.A.P. Don't risk anything going wrong with your Brakes and for a simple Brake Examination by a good Indie it is worth whatevever it costs, but should not be an expensive thing to check. and don't risk having an accident for the sake of having your Brakes tested.

You normally get about 1k miles but I would get it done within 500 miles.

There is no way to tell if front or rear other than by looking at any previous work done as the rears will normally last twice as long as the fronts.

Visual inspection is the only way to go here.

Thanks all.

I use the car for weekends away and trips to the local supermarket! Just had our last weekend away before the new year ... we're flying to Portugal next week for a long xmas break, so will get the brakes done in January. :D
