Brighter white Bulbs?

Has anyone had experience with the Xenon bulbs?
I DONT mean the HID ones that legally require you to have headlight levellers and Headlight washers..
I mean the replacement bulbs that claim to be 30 or 40% brighter due to the whiter light they give off..

Please dont suggest those naff "Jewel effect" things either..
I am only interested in genuine improvements and Not gimmicks..

P.S I have just ordered a full set of the Phillips extreme bulbs from the website you recommended..

I've got Philips Extreme bulbs on the old girl , so impressed i put a set in the pick up too...very much brighter and a visibly whiter flood on the road, superb in the rain on those black as hell nights.
Auto Express did some bulb tests recently and these came out top.

I paid approx £18 per pair (H4's) from a big seller on fleabay (the same seller has them about £8 more expensive on their own site).
