That's what the chap in the Merc Garage innocently said as he brought me the bill for my new replacment fob... "It's £100 plus VAT".. to whicH I relied, "two words come to mind".. "infact three"..

I cancelled the order...we can live without it..

Can anyone tell me what's going on.. are Mercedes making it up or what...?

I presume someone with the right knowhow could repair them.. if you know anyone who can I'd like to hear from them.. Thanks.

They cannot be repaired as the unit is programmed with your car. Once they are programmed they are set for life. £100 is not that bad compared to other manufactureres. Partially it is down to security. If you could repair them and reprogramme them then all the t-leafs would be doing it.
It amazes me how many parents give their children their keys to play with. If they knew how much they cost to replace I'm sure they would not do it.

Was that price for the folding key complete with fob, or the fob only.

I asked as it is possible to by the key or fob on its own, the instructions for doing this are in my SL folder. I can see no reason for MB to issue a work sheet on replacing key, if it is not available on its own.
