Broke, rubbed my wing mirror drivers side off, my fault really but anyway.

Put the pieces back together and it basically works, indicator blinks and glass swivels. But I think I have broken the catches on the body, the metal spring catch has dissapeared and the plastic tounges that slide under the casing have broken off.

I peered at the base and it says it is a 41-3133-418 wing mirror. (It may have been replaced in the past). Unfortunatly it seems to have a single cable hardwired from the back going into the car suggesting I would have to remove the door card to get at the plug end of the cable. I see some wing mirrors with the same serial number have a terminal block plug/socket and then an extension going into the door meaning they can be unplugged from the outside, mine does not appear to be one of these.

So how hard is it to pry off the door card? Just lever off with a screwdriver? Or am I likely to break it and should go to a garage?

If I see a suitable replacement with the same part number but a terminal block and extension lead should I get that and make it easier in the future? Or is it likely to be incompatible?

Are the c class wing mirrors faily interchangeable? There seem to be a lot of nearly identical ones, I worry slightly if they changed over the years.

Thank you.

Welcome to the forum.

You need a wing mirror based on the VIN of your car. Look on the likes of partsourq to get the pn based on vin. The differences in plug are as mentioned based on vin since wing mirrors may be powering ao blind assist, auto dipping motors, auto dimming, heated etc. so on

If you are thinking of going at it with screwdriver to pry things pff - be careful. Trim tools are less invasive.

From the way you describe things, take a look on youtube - must be some vids there for door car removal (if needed) and replacing wing mirror.
