So, as a european im staying in india for long term. i bought a w203 2004 and the engine is dang fine.

Problems:
- airbag light comes on, probably spring clock
- SRS malfunction
- ABS malfunction
- 7 more malfunctions but they sabotaged the screen in such way so u cannot read it in daylight
- left indicator does not stay in position, to the right it does.
- horn is not in steering wheel but below the steeringwheel as a button.
- wipers same story, there is a weird button below the steering wheel
- Pulling to the left
- safe mode engaged after some driving
- many electronics are hard wired to the battery

What goes good:
- the frame does not show much rust around the wheel arches.
- gearbox seems fine, even though the clutch is on its end of the pedal, you have to make it come up alot to unclutch, it might need new disks soon
- engine is realy good. I would have expected more power for a 2 liter supercharged engine but im not in it for racing.
- electronics like opening closing doors works all fine.

Now i have brought the car to the mechanic, which on google is an official mercedes dealer. I am in india and the term 'offiical dealer' is a little bit loose. no disrespect but its not what you think of as a dealer. Anyway, i have total trust in his skill. He drove 2 meter and instantly knew the MAF was broken, dirty or at least not wokring properly. This is also the reason it goes into safe mode, or, limp mode.

he had told me that i need a new bush kit, new stabilisation arms and new shockbreakers, which to me sound reasonable, because, when u push the front side down on 1 side u can hear the cracking of the shockers.

i have attached picutres which he sent me.

For these parts total he asked around 300 euro, i dont know if this is very expensive but i did it anyway. Also the electric wiring is being redone as much as possible. The funny thing is, the horn does not work from the steering wheel, if i want to use the horn there is a button below the steering wheel. For this to be fixed and have horn in the steeringwheel i need to replace the clock spring bus he said, which is quite expensive.

There is no question specifially related to this story, i just wanted to give an update, as promised in the introduction section.

Welcome to the forum and good to see you are making progress rectifying alot of PO workarounds (bodge jobs) by the sound of it.

If you carry on you will be over the moon with a perfect car as it should be.

300 Euro in India (its all relative), as you know you wont have much change in Europe from that just for a diags.

Keep it up and keep us updated

Those brake disks have a bit of a lip on them.

Your clock spring theory sounds good. I have a w211 of similar age and a lot of your probs may stem from that area. I got a complete s/h squib including clock spring fit around £50 which sorted a few problems.
