On cleaning the engine bay of my 280 today all I can say is shame on you Mercedes mechanics! It was filthy! my main concren was brown gunk built up on the Oil filler spout! heavy deposits of brown gunk is not what you expect to see on a 60k miler with full history!

What the **** are Mercedes playing at!? I will be phoning the MD Dealer in Ayr tomorrow to find out! I have hovered and cleaned the worst away! but never-the-less!?

****ed off, or they spanner monkeys or what?

Hi

It is a reflection of the type of journeys the car has done. Seems like it has been used for short journeys where the engine has hardly had a chance to warm up.
The fact that the spout is plastic may contribute as well.

Fair point. I'll be keeping an eye on it.
