Bulb Corrosion

I very rarely use the front fog lights however I noticed that I was getting the bulb failure warning when I tested them. The drivers side one was out so since it is dry today I thought I would have a lie down and see what the problem is.
With a 2p piece it is fairly easy to remove the cover on the undertray of a 210. You then have to work blind to unclip the bulb retaining spring and pull out the bulb. The cable is long enough that you can see to pull the bulb from the holder whilst laying on the ground.
The bulb looked fine, however it was open circuit when I tested it and on closer examination one of the legs of the bulb was corroded;
Bit hard to see but it is the one with the red arrow.

I cleaned this up but could not get a decent connection as I could not get the leg to stay pressed against the holder. As it is not really possible to solder the leg to the holder (wrong type of metal) I went for the 'hot blob' approach;

This has held the leg against the holder and also stopped it from moving so with any luck it should stay like that. (At least until I need to use them)
It took me a lot longer to get the bulb back into its slot as I was working blind. Eventually (after thinking why do I start these little jobs) I did get it clipped back in, the plastic cover back on and the flap in the undertray fixed up as well;
