straight up i have to admit that i'm dopey as far as electrics go. my 230TE has developed this problem that i don't know how to fix: if the tailgate has been open a few minutes, when i close it the interior rear lights (x4) won't go out. the only way i can get them to go out is to remove the fuse. unfortunately this also takes out the central locking, so it's a pain in the arse. anyone know what's going on here?

has to be said that sometimes when i replace the fuse, all seems well again. lately though, no matter how long i wait before replacing the fuse, the lights all just come on again in the rear, and won't go out again til the fuse is removed. damn, it's driving me crazy! any tips/help would be appreciated

Probably a broken wire going to the tailgate and earthing its self on the bodywork

Most likely to be the switch that turns the light out on the tailgate.
