Bulb Warning Light

I have a 1986 300SE.

The bulb warning light comes on when i switch the lights on and does not go out, i have checked the outside lights and they seem ok, am i missing something?

Have you also checked the number plate lamps, are all of the lamps the correct wattage, if it was brake lamps that would only put the lamp on after the brake pedal was pushed

First thing to do is to track down which circuit it is. Then check the wattage of the bulbs. Then if all checks out ok, check the contacts for corrosion and tension. I've had the warning light on with a poor contact.

on the same subject , would a spotlight bulb thats out make the warning light stay on?.

if it was brake lamps that would only put the lamp on after the brake pedal was pushed

i always thought this wasnt the case , on my old bmw it came on regardless of pedal use and i presume its the same as that on the mercedes?.

On MB's the brake bulb failure only lights once the pedal has been pressed

so does that apply to the spot lights? (i.e only when there on) i have a blown one atm
