I wonder if anyone could help with any info about the correct paint to use to change the colour of the bumper on my ml from grey to blue to match the body of the car.
Thanks
The colour code will be on the inside of a door pillar, no problem in having this done, a flexi additive is added to the paint on bumpers so that it can flex
Thanks for the info, is the additive added when mixed at the paint manufactures or just before painting. The reason for asking is i would like to try and paint them my self.
With a good quality modern lacquer, flexi additives aren't really neccessary as there is plenty of 'give' in the lacquer already.
If the bumpers are in excellent condition, give them a good clean, rub them over with a grey scotch pad until the finish is concistently dull and then colour it up and lacquer over once dry.
I'd probably suggest 2k lacquer on that sort of work, a cellulose would look ok but the shine would drop back later, and look poor against the rest of the car. And as Rob said a good scotch up, as if not it would flake like a leper on a road drill. Plastic primer would also benifit, its all in the prep work doing jobs like that. Also give it a really good scrub with wet scotch too with some liquid soap too, so any dirt is cleaned away, and especially on vinyl trim where its usually slicked up with silicone to make it look pretty.
