SOme nice person has reversed into my front bumper and left a tiny hole in the plastic (about 15mm by 3mm). Anyone have any suggestions as to what I should fill this with? There's a plastic repair kit in Halfords for £30 ... is this any good?

Most of those kits are ok, don't forget when you fill it that a larger area around the hole will be slightly deformed. If as you say the hole is only small you could also use P38 its easier to work with.
If you intend to finish with an aerosol, the weather to do this outside is still too cold, if you have one of those Halagon flood lamps you could warm the surface a little (warm to the touch) this also speeds up the acticvators in the 2 pack fillers. Flat with a small block and 200 grit paper, finish filer with 400-600 grit, base coat and flat with 1000 grit, any marks sand or fill as needed, flat again and base coat again, any imperfections can be seen if you look side ways on when the paint is wet. 5 mist coats are beter than one heavy coat that will sag and run. keep the paint warm, it helps.

Just to add to the sound advice of Malcolm, To warm the paint place the can in a bucket of hot water for a few min's and wipe the water off when you go to use. And don't forget to shake well. When using the can do a couple of test sprays on something flat first to get the hang ( I use the back of my garage door, It's now very psychedelic).

Years ago Dave when I did a lot of paint work, I had hundreds of tins with a bit in the bottom. I thought OK poured them all into a 1 gallon tin and put it on the mixer/shaker, the colour came out aubergine, identical to the Ford colour that was in fashion and used it on a friends Capri.

Talking of warming up the paint, one of the best things I ever bought was a small industrial oven, perfect to put the gun pot in. I sadly look at my flow cup hanging up, and doubt that I will ever use it again.

Would be great to think that we could find the time to practice our trade/hobby further. I left the garage fourteen years ago after developing dermatitis. This was a mistake as I soon got the bug again and started to learn the craft on my own, working from my own place. (case of having to when you smack your car up the rear of someone else's). When people saw the work I had done to my own I was soon being asked to repair, paint or whatever others vehicles. Even now Ive got a wing to repaint on a Volvo and a neighbour asked me a week ago if I'd paint his classic - I'll only do this if I can find a workshop again. Last summer I rebuilt arches on a fiesta and repainted the bottom half (Filler on filler - and plenty of welding needed) and replaced a bumper on an Escort5 , Nice easy white.
I try not to take on loads of work as Ive neither the time or space with a four year old running around, maybe I'll find a unit and start a weekend workshop! I know a few people that would like to do the same so who knows -
For now I just try to keep myself sane by doing bits of what I love. Hobbies include Rallying - my own car being a Reliant Robin and I like to watch, marshal and also I've just started to use the radio (crown4) if your ever out on events. Well I suppose we all have to keep sane with something and I do not like sitting in the house, that's why I do these things. How about everyone on here? What do you do to keep sane?
