I download music from Napster, within Napster I can burn the music onto CD, I have the completed CD and it plays from other PC's in the house but they dont play in either my wifes SLK or my CL500, does anyone know why. The CD's are Philips CD-RW.

thanks

This has been covered many times and it is to do with the reflection of the CD surface, if you do a search the best CDs are named in some of the post

The first thing is, does it play on normal cd players. PCs are a lot more tolerant about both the cds themselves and the format they are recorded in. Is it just a pile of mp3 files or has it been converted to music cd format?
Assuming they in proper CD format then it may be the make of CD. I tend to find that recorded cds are less stable than pre-recorded ones and some makes work better than others.
I have some normal house cd players that are more tolerant than others too.

Only just found this, but as eyelight says, CDRW tend not to work as they can't be finalized like a CDR.

As you mention jib, the cheap and nasties are usually the best :)

CD-r That play in Mercedes

At last I have found CD-Rest that will play in my Mercedes CLK after about three years of trying different cd-rs I have found 1 that will play in my CLk
year 2000.The problem that you have with early Mercedes Cd players is that they will only play genuine CDs.I discussed this with Mercedes Dealerships and the answer I get back is that you can afford a Mercedes so you can afford a Genuine CD. This is ok but what if you download a tune and you want it on a disc. Downloads were probably not available in the year 2000
which was when my car was made. I have located a Disc that will play in the Mercedes. TDK Music CD-r These discs can be recorded on via a Music recorder such as the Sonys/Philips or by Computer using Nero or other burning software. These are top quality discs hence the price you pay. If you have done your research I don't know of any Music Disc that will allow you to burn music on a computer.
There is a Downside, so far is these Discs are only available in America. If you know of any other country please let me know. I have brought back some from America. If you want to know where from or more info My email address is fitzgeraldbartley@tiscali.co.uk Happy Days:D

Is this a feature of the radio/CD player in the dashboard jib? (Audio10 or Audio20)?

I have 6 CD stacks in the S and the SL and they play anything I put in there - why should that be different? I generally compile stuff on iTunes then record to any old CD - and it works. Could this be "sub conscious competence" on my part?

What I don't get is any display of what is playing - which I used to in my Toyota Camry 17 years ago! I have read posts on how to do this, but have yet to feel strong enough to try.
