Hi Guys n Gurls,

I am new to this forum and only joined this morning. I am buying a C36 today and was wondering if anybody had any buying tips for me. I am paying £4000 for a 1997 P. Firstly is that good? The car has covered 117000 miles and has missed 1 service at 108000 miles but had 1 done with pads at 114000. I just need to know what to look for when buying. Also this one has folding mirrors, did all of them have that function?

Please i need help as soon as!! Many thanks Benzoo

Just had a look around Autotrader and it seems a reasonable price....don't think they made that many C36's, so a bit hard to judge really. (Only 3 for sale in the UK on there.)

As for what to look for, usual things I suppose on a 10 year old car, rust being the major one.

Hi thanks for the info, i believe she is rust free but my only concern is the MOT running out in December! I dont want to find out that ball joints and gaitors need replacing. Any tell tale signs?

Get it MOT'd at a Merc dealer BEFORE you buy.

It missed a service at 108 and had pads at 114k. It now has 117

When was the last change of owner? When was the last service? I'd be suspicious that it's done more miles than you think but you don't give dates so it's hard to know

You say you're buying it today. Sounds like you've made your mind up already...

Hey Guys, thanks for all the responses, it has done 118K last service was performed at 116 at a bosch centre, i just bought it for £3950. The only problem with it is the exhust vibrates when standing and pulling off and the passenger side mirror dosent fold or move electrically. Also the breathing in park is a little rough.Any ides for the mirror and breathing? Once again thanks to you all!!:p

Mirror: *Gentle pursuasion* Emphasis on gentle. They tend to get tight through lack of use.

Breathing? Some very clued up people on here, I ain't one of them. :)

What to look for - A C43 if you can afford one. Its a more developed AMG and has a wonderful sound to the engine!

The wiring loom for the engine is known to rot away. It's well known on the M104 engines so look for poor running or strange faults.
