buying a E220 benz with high mileage-help?

im going to buy a 1996 benz e class 2.2 at, the car is in very good condition but it has 187000 kms on the clock which is about 124000miles, im just wondering if buying a car with this high mileage is a good idea. i live in bangkok, and here cars are very expensive, but i really like the car, and ive had very reliable benzs before. is there anything i should be looking out for? my dealer is very reliable and ive this is my 3rd car from them. also what tips can anyone give me to keep the engine in good shape. i look forward to your thoughts , thanks paul

124k isn't really very high for an E-class if it's been well-maintaned. Check the service history and usual things- do electrics work? are there any funny noises on start-up and running? Does it feel 'normal' when driving?
Check the fluids, hoses, belts etc.
I think the 4-cyl engine is reliable and doesn't suffer from head gasket failiure as much as the 6-cyl engines.
