buying a Mercedes R-class 320cdi SWB and advice or opinons?

Hi all,

with a third child due in a few weeks looking to change my 04 BMW 5 series touring.(not enough room in the rear for two 12y olds and a baby!)

Read lots of reviews, tried lots of cars (disco, XC90,X5 etc etc) and have been drawn to a 06 reg R320cdi SWB. seems to have every gadget under the sun installed on it and obviously a good price as its not so popular as other vehicles (although personally I like the look of it and 6 seats is fine for us!!).

Just wondered if any owners had any view or things to look for??

had a look on benzworld and as with any car there are some issues on it but wanted to get a UK view?

My dad has a E320cdi and thats a great engine, I happen to like the R class and as you say not many people do. I guess its as its between the E class estate and ML?

I shouldn't think there is much to look for just drive a hard deal.

Will the SWB be big enough boot wise for holidays (I know how much even one baby seems to need so two 12yrs old also) how much larger (longer is the LWB?)

Nice car though, whats the spec, colour etc.

OOh and here are some 'mods' for them from the Geneva show a few yrs ago

thanks for that after a test drive I have now brought a 56 reg R320 CDI LWB sport with 12K on the clock, as the dealer did a
nice deal on it (cant think why! ) in part ex for mine.

LWB was a better option due to the bootspace and it still fits on my drive so thats good

picking it up this week

its irdium silver 19" AMG, sat nav phone prep and many other things that end in tronic!

Talking of Dads having seen an R-class mine now believes I'm running my own private bus company!!!!!
