Hi everyone,

I’m a new member here and I was after some advice please.

I recently reserved a 350e 2018 mileage 23k, £29,500 with premium plus, digi dash, driver assist plus, parking assist etc.

I’m more than happy with the car

The issue is that I’m in conflict with my own mind at the moment, the new E class lands soon and I’m concerned that the value of this car could drop dramatically.. what’s your thoughts please some advise would be great for me to make an informed decision.

Thank You

Hello and welcome,

There will always be a new car that will drive the value of yours down. The value only drops if you sell it, if you keep it there is no decrease in value.

You need to be happy with your decision - used prices are still all over the place due to global supply chain issues and probably won't be sort for awhile yet

As above, there will always be another model along to make yours the "old" one.
However, consider that yours is a very high spec one and will have some features that the newer ones won't ( due to semiconductor shortages)
Also, a newer model will be considerably more expensive too
If you're the type who is an early adopter and finds yourself unhappy with the car once the new model is out ( nothing wrong with that btw) then save a bit more dosh and get the one you'll be comfortable with.

The new W214 300e hybrid is going to be over £60,000 before extras. That's a lot of money compared to something secondhand...

Welcome!

I’m sure you will enjoy the car the W213 is a great choice.

As above, you could argue there is never a good time to buy a secondhand car, a new model imminent etc. S/H prices are higher than they should be due to a cut in new car production which hasn’t ramped up again yet due to component shortages yet another legacy of Covid.

If you are worried about depreciation mitigate it by running the car a couple of years longer, my son loved his W213 and was more than happy to run it for 4+ years
