DEPENDS ON CONDITION AND MILEAGE THERE HAVE BEEN 2 1983 230E IN MY LOCAL PAPER GOING FOR AROUND 6OO SQUID BOTH T&T DONT KNOW WHAT CONDITION I PAID 700 FOR MY 1984 280E BODY GOOD BUT JUST FOUND THAT MY ENGINE NEEDS SORTING , BUT IT HAS DONE 206000 MILES . SO IF YOUR PREPARED TO TAKE THE CHANCE DO IT . HAD MINE NOW SINCE FEB 2002 WISH I HAD DONE IT SOONER PLUS THE ADVICE AND GUIDANCE YOU GET FROM THIS FORUM IS EXECELLENT HOPE THIS IS OF SOME HELP

just seen a e class estate 1989 go through auction at£850. This seemed awfully cheap.

buying an old merc
I just got myself a 1985 S280 (w126) from the auctions for £600...came with T/T for a few months and main dealer history to 110.000 then loads of bills and service sheets to 154.000, it has now covered 167.000....lovley motor, but i origanally went out to get a 190....Oh well these things happen...there was also 2 C230 estates in the auctions and they never got a bid.......one was a 1982, done 110.000 and the other a 1983, dont know the millage....the 1982 one is still there and the 1983 one is now on one of the online auction sites...either yahoo or ebay.......i'm now looking for a C230, the 280 is a little to big for me, but a lovely motor.
