Hi to everyone,
I'm new to this forum,
I am looking for some advice on buying a C220CDi
Hopefully a Elegance Auto 1999.
I've seen a few advertised with a four speed auto I thought They all had 5 speed after 1996?
If anybody could give me any tips on what to look out for when viewing my prospective car I would be very grateful. :D

Dear Anee
I have a 99 220cdi and it's brilliant. Mine is 5 speed auto and I thought they all were! Providing you make sure it's well cared for and has a full MB (or Indy) SH, I don't know of any major snags except for the well known door edge corrosion which is easily solved under warranty.

Thanks jak,
I wouldn't consider a car without FSH,
hopefully I'll get one soon, though they seem to be a bit thin on the ground
which tells me current owners are reluctent to part with them.

I purchased my C220Cdi AUTO on an 02 plate, just 2 weeks ago. It is an Elegance (SE?) and has leather seats, with electric memory adjustment on the drivers, plus the usual extras of headlamp washers, auto dimming mirrors, auto lights n wipers. It's a GREAT car. I had an A140 AUTO before which was a great car but flawed - this C-class is a different league and I hope I have many happy thousands of miles driving it! It's already completed a 1500 mile trip from the dealer in Brighton where I purchased it, home to Peterborough and on to a week in Scotland, all performed with little effort and total comfort. Got 60mpg on the motorway too, according to the (probably) optimistic fuel computer!

As mentioned above, don't even think about buying without a full MBFSH. Hope you get one!
