The wife has been giving me a hard time of late, as the cars she has driven over the last 5 years have been 'supplied' to her. whereas I get choice and I get what I want.

So... we went looking at family estates (I at least had 'some' influence)

Test drove a new X type touring estate, full sports spec with the 2.0 derv lump, test drove the smaller Saab 93 Estate aswell and she fell for a saloon..... decided we'd cool off over the weekend and come back..

She didnt want a newer E class estate for £20 ish grand... wanted something brand new.

So anywayz.... That night we looked on autotrader and I showed her all the sporty 'appearing' estates by each reputable manufacturer. Avensis, Passat, C-E class, 3-5 series etc etc.

Then we came across an unregistered last revision (built 05) MG ZT-T+ 135 2.0 CDTi . List price on these was £22K + otr charges for the wee diesel last year before they went under.

Being sold by a local Citreon Dealership with 2 years warranty and full dealership services for servicing/maintenance etc... only had 6 miles on the clock. We went and took a test drive, not amazing with only a 2.0 diesel lump but good enough for the door to door city stuff we do.

Managed to get it for £12995 with the E200 thrown in as a prt ex (grand for the LPG'd mars and back miler) Utter bargain I think, gettin registered tomoro on a 06 plate and we pick it up at 3pm.

So - that's me out of this forum for a while until I buy another merc.

Thanks for all the help and assistance shown and best of luck til then.

regards

Karl

You'll miss us (and the Merc)!
Car purchases should be done by the head (as you have done) but I've realised that we're just kidding ourselves and it's an emotional decision really.
Good luck with the Rover but I give you 3 months and you'll be itching for that 3 pointed star again.

I do agree that once you've had a Mercedes nothing else is quite the same. We sold our Mercedes back in February and bought a Golf. We are happy with the Golf, but if we could afford to have a Mercedes again we'd get one :)

Hope your happy with your rover but I guarantee within a month you will be wishing you plumped for another Merc. Over a period of nine years I had two c classes great cars and not a thing went wrong with either of them. Then I decided I wanted a change and bought a five series BMW this was also a great car had it four years. Again I never put my hand in my pocket and it ran like a dream. But for those four years I was itching for another Merc, once you have owned one there is no going back. Two weeks ago I traded the beamer in and bought an 18 month old 220 CDI diesel E class. I am thrilled to bits with it and can't see me owning anything but a Merc again.
