C 180 ('97) rear E/W wire rope damaged

Hello to all,


Is it possible to change the wire rope only that helps operate the window?The motor is fine and so the rest of the assembly.

I have in mind to cut a similar size wire rope and spool it correctly on the assembly. Have you guys done this before?

MB dealer sales the entire assembly for £ 240 while I need just the wire rope.

If yours is a pre facelift model, complete assemblys are available from euro car parts and German and Swedish for much less money, i'm not sure what the difference is to the later ones, i did wonder if it was just the motor connections and the regulator maybe the same, anyone had an experience with the difference? As you can see from my thread i have done mine successfully, wire rope is available (but maybe slightly thicker than original)
I got mine from an agricultural shop.

I have a quote from a car dismantler and they offered me from same age car the complete unit for £58 but again, the age of that wire makes me worry a little. B&Q new wire rope is 50 pence per meter so I'll go for that.
