My family has a 1997 C200 Merc and my mom was just about to go to work when the car alarm went off. She told me to have a look at it and form what I could fathom, the bonnet latch was sticking out (possibly done by accidentally pulling the red switch under the steering column,I don't really know), the key fobs were not working (even though the IR signal was still transmitting), the mirror with the red and green lights were not flashing and all electronics in the car were dead. No ignition...not even the hazard lights.
To top it all off the car doesn't start and the alarm is constantly blaring out.
One temporary solution I have done is to stick one key fob into the ignition and put it on position 2 or 3, (this muffles the alarm) and locking the door manually using the second key.
I asked my mom what she did and she couldn't remember and was getting kinda worried, (multiply that by 400 when a 100 decibel alarm is blaring out and all the neighbors are watching).
I was just wondering what I should do, my mom's gone off to work (taxi) and I am left with a spazzed out car which sounds like a cushion has been enveloped over a siren.
Should I call Gerrard Mann (the Merc Dealer), or what?
This is the first time in years the car has malfunctioned and I don't know what to do. I would look into the car manual for help but It was misplaced a long time ago.
