I need to replace the above. Does anyone know if there is a "copy" version out there or do I have to go with the official Merc ones?

I have not looked extensively but as yet have been unable to find any "built out" in such a way that they would leave the window mechanism clear.

Hi,
Your front speakers include a dash mounted tweeter as well.
You can fit 6.5 inch (17cm) component speakers but will need to fit adapter rings which from memory are approx £10-15 a pair.
Try these as they say they are specific to a C class and include fitting kit, which i suspect are the adapter rings.

Hope this has been of some help.

As an after thought if you don,t buy those make sure the speakers you choose, that the cone centre does not protude much more than the standard speakers otherwise you could have issues with the speakers hitting the grill when turned up.

I have just e-mailed this to the seller:

Hi. I bought and received the above item. yesterday I unpacked and attempted to install them in my 1995 Mercedes C 180.

Upon opening the box discovered that the very fragile foam type rubber surrounding the diaphragm had fractured on one speaker. Undaunted, I decided to install the other, as I had already stripped down the door.

When I offered up the new speaker to the mounting holes from which I had removed the old I found that it is incorrectly configured. (The differences are slight, mostly to do with the plastic legs being on the wrong screw holes but they are significant in that mounting is rendered impossible)

During this attempt I managed to touch - not push, just touch - the foam surround to thge diaphragm and, sure enough, it ruptured.

My contention is that these items are unfit for purpose and I would like to know what your proposals are to sort this all out.

Regards,

Jim

To his credit the vendor has promised me a full refund and withdrawn the rest of his stock from sale, having tested and found the same problem I did.
