Rececntly purchased (nov Oct 2005)C class 220CDI (2203) from MB dealer.
I am having a very annoying intermitent problem with starting the car, you get in all dashboard instrument o.k and turn key but nothing, sometimes will start after 2-3 attemps sometimes a lot lomger.
The car has been back to MB 5 times so far, with them telling me there is nothing wrong with it, to then changing a relay, then on last visit they fitted a new ignition switch, but problem with intermitent starting still carries on.
It is now booked in for 3 days next week, but i am loosing faith with MB.
Can anyone give me an idea on any other possible faults causing this?

Hi Wilson,
i was going to suggest the ignition switch, but that has been changed???? i had the same problem with a 01 SL320 which after 1 week of having had the same sort of problem. I had the ignitin switch replaced and touch wood it hasnt had the non starting issue. I would also rccoment you have the battery checked, a dodgey battery can cause some trouble aswell.

Sorry cant be any more help...

non start

HI

I asume that you car doesn't crank when the switch is turned to the start posistion. I am seeing a lot of starter moters going fault on these, if you or you have someone that can test the car when it fails take the lid of the front fuse box (on o/s under bonnet) you will see a thickish purple wire going in to plug with a single row of contact, this is the signal wire to the starter and should have 12 volts when the key is turned to the start posistion the first time
