Have read asssyst forum with interest but would welcome some clarification on criteria for same
I have 4 year old C 240 which had A service and brake fluid change on 4 year old car at 28,000 miles
New dealer is insisting on B service at 35,000 miles at £300+ .
What will I miss/abuse if I simply get dealer to change engine oil to get dealer service invoice rather than use K fit etc.
I understood that A service was roughly equivalent to year service whilst B service was 2 yearly equivalent.
It will seem excessive to have B service for approx !18,000 miles

When was the last B Service??

Its wise to have it done, to keep the value of the vehicle if nothing else.

Buyers will look to see that the correct services were carried out.

If the cost is too much, take to a specialist.

My car has had all its major services done at a reputed specialist and all the minor services done at Merc dealer.

Personally i dont believe that the quality of major service is value for money at dealers, hence i use specialists.

service

Hi

"a B service sounds excesive for 18000 mile's"!!!!!!!!! how many f**K**G miles do you want to go before your brakes are checked ?????? Not so long ago maint service was every 9000 miles. Any service over 13000 is a "B" service

ab service

Sorry if did not make myself clear but I do not think abuse helps.
As i have tyre wear indicator on cluster it semed that this might be useful.
Additional info not given was that i had dealer check brakes when piece of outer edge was fond on garage floor.
He indicated that they still had 50 % wear on them and price for changing all brakes would be £600 but was not neeed.
When mileage is so relatively low i.e. 9000 miles per year vs my previous mileages of 35000 per year I was wondering if it was ESSENTIAL to have B service when I intend to change engine oil any way every 6 months.
Hope this clasrifies situation

Thanks

Wow piestore you had a bad day (can line faults maybe?). I think you should stick to the M.B service plan. Why are you changing your oil every 6 months are you doing starship mileage?
I guess for £600 they were quoting to do pads and discs on all 4 corners.
And could you tell me more about your tyre wear indicator. I have not heard of this before.
